Wii games get serious

Ben 10, Codename: Kids Next Door, what do these two have in common? Well, two things: they’re both rubbish games, and they’re both video games that nobody plays. But the company High Voltage admits it’s time to get serious with their development of Wii games. They’re creating something that is going to be the “Halo of the Wii.” I would like you to meet: The Conduit. The game is in pre-alpha stage, and from screenshots (available at IGN), it looks as awesome as a Big Mac on crack. With a smiley face. Oh the humour. But, it’s about time there’s a Wii game that’s not “family-based,” and I’ll love to see this game on the shelves soon.

New Zelda games in the works, site upgrade

Before I go on to some rather exciting Zelda news, I have updated WordPress to 2.6. I forgot to put the headers folder in the new install so need to re-upload it ;P

Now… E3 2008 has kicked off, Nintendo’s conference took place, but no mentions of Zelda. However, when IGN interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto, he announced that not one, but two new games were in the works! Apparently, these games are being worked up into something ‘unique,’ so the resulting games may be interesting. It’s a Wii and a DS Zelda each, but we don’t know which will come out first. Stay tuned!

With E3 coming up in a matter of days, what could be better than a bubble of Zelda shots to see? Following the art of The Wind Waker, The Minish Cap, and Phantom Hourglass, someone has taken time aside from whatever they do to remake some Ocarina of Time shots into high-resolution, cel-shaded imagery. One of the greatest games drawn in a great art technique? I think you should go and take a look, now.

I am sorry if anyone couldn’t access the site yesterday/this morning. I was doing the weekly cleanup/optimisation to make the site faster, and forgot to turn the cleaning up page off :s. Everything is okay now! Also, most of the game pages are now done. I have around 2-3 more to do, but that’ll be quickly complete :3

You may have seen the site go down the other day for a redesign. And yes, that’s happened! I need to fix up a little more things and then version 2 of The Land of Zelda is ready. Since we’ve only been up for 2 months, I may make the older layout available. Thankyou!

There probably will be a new Zelda announced at E3 2008.

“Now you can make yourself a little sister! DaredevilBR is the artist behind this papercraft model of The Wind Waker Link’s sister, Aryll. Quite impressive, huh? Not the crafting quality, I’m talking about Aryll’s ability to actually stand on those chibi feet. Impressive!

I remember posting a while back about a game called glZelda, although that was a rubbish Windows Zelda game with a more adult touch (swearing, racism, sex references). It seems people love making these silly Zelda “spin-off” fangames, and one I’ve just found is Zelda: The Seeds of Darkness. Oh god…

Design reconstruction

Over the course of the week, the design will be redesigned with some minor and possibly major updates. Some of these are already in effect, such as:

Second sidebar, featuring featured site stuff, non-intrusive ads, polls, and perhaps other stuff.
Redesigned footer.
Comment system appears with speech bubbles, new default avatars, posts link to Reddit/Technorati/Digg/etc.
For the game pages with media on, the images will open with Lightbox (AJAXified image thing) in a neat template that they can fit in.

These changes range from a few minutes to do from a few days, but I’ll get to doing them now. Enjoy!
